The Hari Singapore: Harilela Hotels will have a new address at Orchard Road

There’s a quiet hum of excitement rippling through Singapore’s hospitality scene, and it’s coming from a rather unexpected address: 11 Cavenagh Road. Orchard Road is set for its most dramatic reinvention yet: a full conversion of the former Holiday Inn Singapore Orchard City Centre into a 326-room luxury hotel, complete with a rooftop pool, executive lounge, new dining concepts and wellness facilities.

In its place will stand The Hari Singapore, the third and boldest chapter yet for Harilela Hotels’ cult-favourite brand — joining sister properties in London’s Belgravia (2016) and Hong Kong’s Wan Chai (2020).

A Bold New Chapter for a Cult Favourite

The announcement marks Harilela Hotels’ most significant Singapore investment to date, signalling the family-owned group’s ambition to plant The Hari flag in major gateway cities around the world.

“This hotel, like our sister properties in Belgravia and Wan Chai, will embody relaxed elegance punctuated by eccentricity, wit, culture and genuine heartfelt hospitality,” said Dr. Aron Harilela, founder of The Hari. “Singapore is key to our ambition to evolve The Hari in major international destinations.”

Travellers already know the name: The Hari London and The Hari Hong Kong have quietly become darlings of discerning guests who want a hotel that has personality.

Harilela Hotels’ Design Philosophy: Art and Culture as part of their DNA

Grounded in the Harilela family’s commitment to exemplary hospitality, each of The Hari hotels is a celebration of culture, design and impeccable service. Pairing bold, layered interiors (The Hari London and The Hari Hong Kong both carry the signature of British designer Tara Bernerd) with a rotating programme of contemporary art, the hotel will turn its public spaces into ever-changing galleries.

About Harilela Hotels and The Hari

The Harilela Group is the parent company of Harilela Hotels, which owns and operates 15 properties across Hong Kong, China, the wider Asia region, Europe and the US. The family founded the group in 1959, and the Harilela family still wholly owns and runs it today, six decades on.

Harilela Hotels built its reputation managing and co-owning full-service hotels across Asia, and it maintains strategic partnerships with major international operators including IHG, Hyatt, Artyzen Hospitality Group and Onyx Hospitality Group. The Hari sits at the top of the group’s portfolio as its flagship lifestyle brand — a smaller, design-led collection built for travellers who want a strong point of view rather than a standardised luxury experience.

Part of a Bigger Orchard Road Moment

The Cavenagh Road address puts guests within easy walking distance of the Emerald Hill heritage enclave and the Orchard Road shopping belt, and gives them quick MRT access to the Central Business District via Dhoby Ghaut and Somerset stations.

The Hari Singapore won’t arrive alone. Hilton’s NoMad Singapore is set to open nearby in early 2027, and Aman Singapore will follow in 2028 as part of the Skywaters development near Marina Bay. Together, these openings signal a design-forward new era for Singapore’s luxury hospitality scene — and The Hari is staking its claim right at the centre of it.

Harilela Hotels has not yet confirmed a firm opening date beyond spring 2027, nor released full details on room rates or dining concepts.
