Set along Singapore’s most glamorous shopping boulevard, voco Orchard Singapore blends timeless sophistication with a forward-thinking approach to sustainability. Formerly the Hilton Singapore, the hotel now stands as a modern IHG Hotels & Resorts flagship under its premium lifestyle brand, voco—a name derived from the Latin word “to invite” or “to come together.”
First Impressions

I stepped into the lobby of voco Orchard Singapore and caught a refreshing hint of citrus and spice—an aromatic nod to Orchard Road’s 19th-century nutmeg plantations and spice gardens.
My first encounter with D9 Cakery was instantly enchanting. As I made my way towards the hotel lifts, the whimsical LEGO cakes and colorful pastries caught my eye.

I couldn’t resist pausing to snap a photo — the display made the lobby area feel unexpectedly joyful and indulgent.
Luxury with a Lighter Footprint
I had a delightful surprise to find a platter of desserts in my room. I appreciated the delectable treats that made me feel truly welcomed.

At voco Orchard Singapore, sustainability isn’t an afterthought—it’s part of the brand DNA. The hotel has attained Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC) certification. Sustainable practices are not just compliance measures—they’re enhancements that make the guest experience richer and more rewarding.
The hotel champions sustainability with subtle initiatives, including replacing plastic room keys with wooden cards. Each room features filtered water taps to eliminate single-use plastics. Refillable Apotheke bath amenities with plant-based formulations and the water-saving aerated shower head were an ingenious touch that blended luxury with sustainability.

Even the bedding tells a story: duvets and pillows are filled with recycled plastic bottles, giving waste a second life in the form of indulgent sleep.
Through a partnership with local social enterprise Plastify, the hotel also upcycles used toiletries into practical trays for guest rooms. Guests can support IHG’s A Greener Stay program, earning reward points if they opt to skip daily housekeeping.

There is even a vertical garden inside Opus Bar & Grill, bringing an authentic farm-to-table experience to the heart of the city, where aromatic herbs are grown and incorporated into the hotel’s menus.
The Club Life – Thoughtful Essentials
I stayed in a Deluxe High Floor Room (levels 11 to 16) – this room category includes a bathtub and has views overlooking Orchard Road. At 32 sqm, the room was well-appointed with a mini bar stocked with local snacks, TWG tea, and an illy capsule coffee machine.
This staycation offered me a quick reset: luxury, local exploration, and quality me time, without having to book a plane ticket. I was looking forward to indulging in experiences I tend to overlook in daily life. I highly recommend planning a staycation for anyone seeking a blend of comfort, luxury, and culinary delights
Business travellers will appreciate the work desk and ergonomic Herman Miller chair. The open wardrobe enhanced the sense of space, while conveniently placed USB ports made charging devices easy.

The room can accommodate up to three adults (or 2 adults and 2 children) in a King or Twin configuration.

I was impressed at the size of the 24-hour fitness centre located on the hotel’s 23rd floor. The round-the-clock access ensures flexibility for early risers or late-night fitness enthusiasts.
It is impressively spacious and well-equipped with state-of-the-art machines. They have a stack weight system, free weights, and cardio equipment, including treadmills, ellipticals, stair steppers, and stationary bicycles. Guests can also unwind in the steam room and sauna.

Level 22 Club Lounge
The Club Lounge on Level 22 at voco Orchard Singapore was where I spent the large part of my afternoon.

The thoughtful options of preparation for eggs included truffled scrambled eggs and a variety of options.
Whether you’re enjoying a drink in the club lounge or catching up on work, the staff provide attentive service with utmost respect for your privacy.

Every detail — from plush seating to subtle décor accents — contributes to a space where guests can relax, recharge, and feel completely at ease.

However, if a larger variety of options is preferred, opt instead for the sumptuous breakfast buffet at Opus Bar and Grill, the ground-floor all-day dining restaurant. I confess, I couldn’t resist trying a taste of everything, and ended up skipping breakfast at the Club Lounge.
My favourite breakfast dish was the Singapore Laksa noodles, served up at Uncle Ah Teck’s live noodle station! You could pick your own condiments and the gravy was delicately balanced, and each spoonful was deeply satisfying.

Level 24 – High above Orchard Road
The rooftop pool on Level 24 offers an oasis of calm above the bustling city streets. Whether starting the day with an energising swim, guests can balance indulgence with well-being.

At il Cielo, the poolside Italian restaurant, an off-menu request for fresh watermelon juice turned into a personalised touch when the team quietly coordinated with room service to make it happen—a gesture that embodies voco’s charm.
We enjoyed dinner at Il Cielo. The dishes were thoughtfully prepared and brimming with flavour. Executive Chef Dean Bush recommended the Sicilian Arancini—crispy, deep-fried saffron rice balls oozing with cheese—and the Summer Peach Salad, featuring local Mesclun greens, fresh peaches, passion fruit, and creamy mashed Burrata.
For mains, the Iberian pork ribs with burnt brown sugar glaze were impossible to resist. The classic Linguine with crab claw ragout tasted even better knowing the hotel was the first in Asia to earn both Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) and Aquaculture Steward Council (ASC) certifications back in 2015.
And of course, we ‘accidentally’ saved room for tiramisu—trust me, it’s non-negotiable.

Reliably Different
Launched in 2018, voco represents IHG’s vision of a hotel experience that combines upscale comfort with a playful, individual character. Each property has its unique personality, shaped by local charm, while staying grounded in IHG’s trusted hospitality standards. Service is consistent and reflects IHG’s hallmark quality: professional yet approachable.
It is no wonder their brand ethos—reliably different—is about offering guests the confidence of a globally recognised name while delivering experiences that feel authentic, warm, and refreshingly unstuffy.
Shopping Haven
Long hailed as Orchard Road’s hidden style gem, this enclave brims with coveted luxury labels. Find cutting-edge pieces from Sacai, sleek minimalism at Jil Sander, sculptural pleats by Issey Miyake, and eco-chic tailoring from Stella McCartney — all under one roof.
Purveyors of luxury fashion will appreciate the Club 21 boutique shops with refined collections for both men and women. Whether hunting a show-stopping evening piece, this season’s cult accessory, or simply style inspiration, voco Shopping Gallery is the ultimate destination for fashionistas.
Verdict: Voco Orchard Singapore isn’t just a premium address on Orchard Road—it’s a shining example of IHG’s ability to deliver global hospitality with local heart, blending luxury with eco-conscious living in a way that’s both inviting and inspiring.

I couldn’t resist capturing every detail of my stay with my new HONOR Magic7 Pro smartphone. The phone’s AI-powered edits are my favourite. I’m such a fan of the phone’s AI Eraser, which allows me to remove unwanted distractions from the frame with a single tap. Plus, I also used it to record high-resolution 4K videos.
